ANIMA FORMA MUSEUM GOODS PROJECT【Vol.1】The bag made from leftover fabric from the "Hogushi-weaving"
ANIMA FORMAは、布地の製造過程で出る端材に新たな命を吹き込み、唯一無二のものとして蘇らせるアートプロジェクトです。普段はウール生地の端材から新たな毛物（獣）を制作しています。制作した獣たちは、ANIMA FORMA博物館に展示されています。（ちなみにこの博物館はWEB上でのお話、現存はしません）そしてこの度、ANIMA FORMA博物館オリジナルのミュージアムグッズを制作しました。もちろんミュージアムグッズにもANIMA FORMAのコンセプトを吹き込んでいます。まずは、染織工場の倉庫に眠っている訳あって生産ラインに乗れなかった生地の残反たちを、新たなプロダクトに蘇生させます。第一弾は、山梨県富士吉田市にある「舟久保織物」で生産されている「ほぐし織」の残反でつくったバッグをご紹介します。この企画は、その時に出た残反の量でつくれるだけの数をご紹介する数量限定＆不定期販売になります。是非、ANIMA FORMA MUSEUM SHOPを覗いてみてください。
ANIMA FORMA is an art project that breathes new life into scraps from the fabric manufacturing process and revives them as one-of-a-kind pieces. Usually, I create new art pieces (beasts) from scraps of woolen fabric. The beasts created are exhibited at the ANIMA FORMA Museum. (By the way, this museum is set up on the web and does not currently exist.) And now, I have created original museum goods for the ANIMA FORMA Museum. Of course, I also infuse the ANIMA FORMA concept into museum goods. First, I resuscitate the leftover fabric that was sitting in the warehouse of the dyeing and weaving factory and could not be put on the production line into new products. The first item I will introduce is a bag made from leftover fabric from the "Hogushi-weaving" produced by "Funakubo Orimono" in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture. This project will be a limited quantity and irregular sale where I will introduce as many as I can make with the amount of leftover fabric available at that time. 【ほぐし織とは】予め仮織りした経糸の1本1本に柄をプリントしてから織りあげる「先染め生地」です。主に傘生地としてつくられてきました。プリントした経糸を織機にセットし、糊で固まった仮織時の緯糸を手で引き抜きほぐしながら織り上げていくと（この作業が「ほぐし織り」の語源となっています）、経糸の柄が絣れ、まるで水彩画のようなぼかし柄が生まれます。出来上がった「ほぐし織」の生地からは、温もりとどこか懐かさも感じられます。「ほぐし織」は、時代と共にその数を減らし、今では国内で数えるほどしか製造工場が残っていません。職人の手で丁寧につくられた、日本有数の織物「ほぐし織」をお楽しみください。
【About "Hogushi-weaving"】This is a "yarn-dyed fabric'' in which a pattern is printed on each the prep-woven warp thread beforehand and then woven. Mainly made as umbrella fabric. The dyed prep-woven warp thread is strung on the loom and prep wefts are removed one by one ("Hogushi " is the term for this process) and weaving begins, the pattern of the warp threads becomes like an ikat and creating a blurred pattern that looks like a watercolor painting. The number of "Hogushi-weaving" has decreased over time, and now there are only a few manufacturing factories left in Japan.
